Tasting Notes

Nose: You can smell the whole orchard in the glass: blossom, woodiness and deep apple aroma

Mouth: Bittersweet apple with a tropical sourness; candied orange peel and dried yellow fruit, with a woody, hay straw undertone

Finish: A long finish of toffee and baked apple

Food Pairings

The tannins and acids cut through fatty foods like roast pork, beef or poultry whilst the medium sweetness makes it a perfect partner for spicy foods and curries.

Cider and cheese is a world-beating combination.

It’s not unthinkable to sip Flagon with a pudding: try apple and walnut cake.

Beyond meal times, it also pairs beautifully with Black Country pork scratchings or Scampi Fries.

Flagon is only available on draught in selected independent outlets.

  • In the Orchard

    All our fruit is unsprayed.

We only use low intensity, traditional orchards local to Herefordshire and the Teme Valley.

We use a blend of traditional cider apple varieties: Dabinett, Yarlington Mill and Harry Masters Jersey take centre stage, with many other varieties in supporting roles.

    Harvested in late October

Some of our apples are still hand-picked – hard work!

  • In the Cider Works

Robinsons Flagon cider is pressed, fermented, matured and blended in a traditional way.

We bypass many of the more commercial cider making techniques: no concentrate, freezing, fining, filtration or chaptalization. This preserves our treasured cider apple character.

It's fermented slowly over three or four months depending on the weather.

It's aged for a further 12 months in stainless steel.

Like wine, each glass is slightly different. “Closer to the Apple” as we say in our family.

  • In the Glass

Flagon is a premium quality draught cider with a high juice content and distinctive flavour. It’s cider in a traditional style that lets the fruit character of our local orchards shine through.

It’s is made in a similar way to wine so, like a good wine, each glass is slightly different. The colour, haziness and aroma can vary from year to year, batch to batch and from tank to tank. “Closer to the Apple” as we say in our family.
